Rivalry between Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho is there on both on and off the field.
Although Jose Mourinho has a better record against Arsene Wenger on the pitch over the years, the two have had equally stern words against each other in the press room.
Some of the quotes from this famous rivalry :-
Arsene Wenger, when questioned on Arsenal's all foreign line-up in 2005, "I don't see especially Chelsea play more English players than we do. Who have they produced, homegrown? Just one, John Terry."
Arsene Wenger again questioned the tactics of Chelsea F.C. at the start of following season in 2005, "I know we live in a world where we have only winners and losers, but once a sport encourages teams who refuse to take the initiative, the sport is in danger."
Mourinho responded, "Wenger has a real problem with us and I think he is what you call in England a voyeur. He is someone who likes to watch other people. There are some people who, when they are at home, have a big telescope to watch what happens in other families. Wenger must be one of them - it is a sickness. He speaks, speaks, speaks about Chelsea."
Wenger replied, "He's out of order, disconnected with reality and disrespectful. When you give success to stupid people, it makes them more stupid and not more intelligent."
Now Mourinho's turn, "At Stamford Bridge, we have a file of quotes from Mr. Wenger about Chelsea Football Club in the last 12 months- it is not a file of five pages. It is a file of 120 pages."
The rivalry was put on hold when Mourinho left Chelsea in September 2007. But that didn't stop them from pouring comments on each other.
"The English like statistics a lot. Do they know that Arsene Wenger has only 50% of wins in the English League?" said Mourinho in 2008.
When Mourinho was managing Real Madrid and in a match against Galatasaray Xabi Alonso and Sergio Ramos got booked tactically to serve suspensions in comfortable second leg and not to miss other important games of the season, Wenger had plenty to say, "When you see how it looks on television, it is the best demonstration to think : 'Never do that again.' It looks, frankly, horrible. It's a pity to see that from a big club."
Wenger's comments didn't go down well with Mourinho and he responded fiercely, "Instead of speaking about Real Madrid, Mr Wenger should speak about Arsenal and explain how he lost 2-0 against a team in the Champions League for the first time. The history about the young kids is getting old now. Sagna, Clichy, Walcott, Fabregas, Song, Nasri, Van Persie, Arshavin are not kids. They are all top players."
After a cordial start upon Mourinho's second spell at Chelsea, the transfer of Juan Mata from Chelsea to Manchester United was questioned by Arsene Wenger as it could tweak the table given the fact that Chelsea played their final game against Red Devils a week ago while Gunners were to face them later.
"Chelsea have already played twice against Manchester United, they could have sold him last week. I think if you want to respect the fairness for everybody, this should not happen."
..And the response "Wenger complaining is normal because he always does. Normally he should be happy that Chelsea sold a player like Juan Mata, but this is little bit his nature. I think what is not fair is that his team always has the best days to play."
After a decade of verbal insults, the rivalry got physical in October 2014 when Arsene Wenger shoved Mourinho during an argument on the touchline at Stamford Bridge.
Wenger said, "In hindsight, I think I should not have reacted at all. It's not a way to behave on a football field. Did Mourinho provoke me? That is how I felt. I did not enter Chelsea's technical area."
and when it was suggested to Mourinho that his Arsenal counterpart could be charged, "Charged? If it was me, it would have been a stadium ban."
Several more war of words took place between the two.
Latest when Jose Mourinho was appointed as Manchester United coach he did not miss an opportunity to take a jibe at Wenger. Questioned about his poor 2015/16 season at Chelsea and what that had done to his reputation, he said, "There are some managers, the last time they won a title was 10 years ago, the last time I won was a year ago. If I have something to prove imagine the others! to finish 4th is not the aim."
Also when Arsene Wenger criticized the big money move of Paul Pogba calling it 'completely crazy', Mourinho hit back, "When i heard some of the comments and heard some of the managers criticizing that, I don't think they ever have this problem because to have this problem, you need to be at one of the clubs in the world. At Manchester United it can happen."
Recently report came out that in the biography of Jose Mourinho, he has said, "I'll break his face" in reference to the comments which Arsene Wenger made after the Juan Mata transfer from Chelsea to Manchester United.
The two teams are up against each other at Old Trafford coming Saturday. And it is sure the comments will not going to stop soon.
