Great gesture by FC Barcelona

Barcelona has shown a great gesture and proved why football is such a great sport.

They have invited Brazilian Football Club, Chapecoense to play a pre-season friendly match with them next summer which will be for Joan Gamper trophy.

It's been evident that, 71 people lost their lives in a plane crash including 19 players and staff of the Chapecoense team when they were traveling to Colombia to play first leg of Copa Sudamericana final against Atletico Nacional.

After the incident, whole footballing got together to show solidarity towards the victims families and the club.

In one such gesture, Barcelona want to help the club by offering to play a friendly.

The Match for Joan Gamper trophy is played every year between Barcelona and an invited team.

Barcelona said they wanted to make the Joan Gamper trophy "a great tribute to the world of football through various activities around this match".

"Along with the invitation to Chapecoense to the 2017 Joan Gamper Trophy, Barcelona would like to collaborate on the institutional and sporting reconstruction of the club, and help to recover the competitive level that it had," they added.

"Barcelona has today sent a formal letter of invitation to the current board of directors of Chapecoense."

Well, this tells us that why football is the most popular sport in the world.

The club and the people related to it will be needing more of such support to rebuild and its time every footballing body join hands to help them achieve this.

Chapecoense tragedy - Brazil and Colombia friendly proposed

Brazil and Colombia could play at the Maracana on January 22 to help raise money for Chapecoense after last week's tragic air disaster.

The secretary of Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) Walter Feldman has revealed that discussions are underway with Colombia to play a friendly match.

Chapecoense players, backroom staff and officials were among the 71 people to lose their lives when a flight carrying them to the Copa Sudamericana final against Atletico Nacional went down in Cerro Gordo, La Union in Colombia last week.

The footballing world has banded around Chapecoense and the country's governing body, CBF, are now ready stage a match at the iconic Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro on January 22, with all proceeds going to the families of the players and staff killed.

"We have already contacted both FIFA and CONMEBOL," Feldman told SporTV on Monday.

"Maybe we can play that game on the 22nd, a week before the start of the season.

"We discussed for hours what that game would look like. And it was concluded that the best form would be a game of the Brazilian national team.

"We came to discuss Chapecoense's own hypothesis, with friends playing for the team, but we chose Colombia, a country that was on our side at the moment."

Well if it happens it would be a really nice gesture as football is all about love and respect and in this moment of sadness for the victims families, would help overcome their losses.

Plane Crash carrying Brazilian Football Club Chapecoense death toll revised to 71

According to reports officials have lowered the death toll for the plane crash in Colombia involving Chapecoense to 71.

Officials lowered the count to 71 after finding out that 4 players did not board the flight.

It was evident that the plane carrying Chapecoense players and some journalists, crashed on Monday night in remote locations in Colombian mountains, with only six survivors.

The first team members were travelling to Medellin, to play the first leg of Copa Sudamericana final against Atletico Nacional. Several photos were circulated across the social media, showing the players and other people on board, as they looked really happy.

After the crash reports, players and clubs from every corner of the world send their tributes, and offered help, in whatever way they could.

This tragic incident left everyone heartbroken. All smiles turned into grim faces.
