TEST 1, DAY 2 REVIEW : ONUS ON INDIAN BATSMEN
England dominated Session 1
Day 2 began with Ben Stokes and Moeen Ali on the crease, while Stokes began the day on 19, Ali was whisker away from his 4th Test Century.

In the very first over of the day, Ali completed his century, his first overseas. It was an innings of good confident batting, without taking any risks.
He got bowled at 117 by Mohammad Shami after failing to judge the line of the ball, trying to leave and eventually letting the ball onto the off stump.
Stokes reached three figures and Bairstow got lucky
This was the time Team India could have pressurized England but lady luck smiled on Johny Bairstow and he was dropped twice by Wriddhiman Saha. Stokes and Bairstow added 99 runs for sixth wicket.Ben Stokes added more misery on te Indian team by reaching his century. He got out for 128. England dominated the game and their middle and lower order added valuable runs to take score over 500. It was first time since 2009 any team scored above 500 runs against India in India.

England bowled out for 537 in 159.3 overs.
Wickets were shared around Indian bowlers with Ravindra Jadeja being the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets, Umesh Yadav, Mohammad Shami and R. Ashwin had 2 wickets each. Ashwin conceded 167 runs, third most he has conceded after 194 against Australia in Adelaide in 2012 and 183 against England in Kolkata in 2012.
India made a safe start
After brilliant batting display from the English team, the onus was on Indian openers Gautam Gambhir and Murali Vijay had to make a solid start. As the pitch was also playing it's role, it was important for the Indian team to finish the day without losing any wicket.Both played patiently, took time to settle and completed a 50 run partnership. It was the first 50 plus stand in seven innings they played together.
India finished the day on 63/0.
